Hatching for Valentine's Day???

Hey mudfarm!

My farm is a whole lotta mud alot of the time too! lol First hatches are sooo exciting! Got your patience intact? Good Luck to you!
I still have 5 BLRWs lookin good to go into the hatcher on Wed. And the countdown is on...

Just put my bator on lockdown mode. It is day 18 for me. The eggs are moving around a bit and very active inside. Hoping the next few days will go okay with temp and humidity. I have 3 sponges in there along with two of the wells full of water. hopefully this will last for 3+ days!! Anyone else closing up their bator?

Tomorrow eve I take them out of the turner, up the humidity and then sit on my hands til they hatch!
Your humidity should last with it all shut up but if it starts going down you can always add water with a straw or a small funnel or even a turkey baster through the plug holes and that way you don't have to open it up.

It is hovering at 60%. Should I add more water now, before it goes too low?

Today is day 18 for me. They will be coming off the turner this evening and put in lock down mode!! I HATE WAITING!!!!!

Crazychicken, what are you going to do with your only lonely chick that is sure to hatch? Will you raise it by itself or get a few other chicks to keep it company?

I put a little stuffed teddy bear in with my single chick till a buddy hatched a week and a half later. He loved the teddy

He would curl up kind of under it to sleep and perch on it when he was awake.

Im so excited about my hatch on Sunday. My humidity is staying around 65... I'll keep ya guys posted if all 8 hatch cochins hatch

I have had experience with lone chicks and they are the sweetest ones. I will play with it often and keep it company. I have the brooder set up so wherever I am in my room SHE can see me. I know the trick with the mirror and the stuffed animal. and until we move my parents *coughs dad cough cough* say That we (me and mom ) can not have any more chickens. So this HEN will be the only one until we move.

Update no chirps yet but I can see that egg a shaking but I do have to share the best window with my mom she would not like it if she could not see it too.
