ok so i have 8 eggs which are being sat on by a bantam (if thats how you spell it?) its my first time! i candled a few yesterday (day 17) and most i couldn't see a thing except air sack at point end this is good right? but the air sack on some wernt perfectly circular? also seen from now on i should leave them for the lock down stage? none smell bad and i did crack one open when the eggs arrived and it had the white disk! should i do anything to help the hen out?

ps these are my own eggs from my own hen and cockerel!

From my first experience hatching eggs under a broody was the last few days it was impossible to candle. Every egg was fertile.

I did have issues with my broody which is very uncommon. My broody ate 2 of her pipping chicks and injured one when I intervened. This does not happen often. I no longer have that hen. I was really mad at her for eating her young and rehomed her.

Your doing fine! Expect little chicks poking out from under momma in a few days!
