Hatching in Egg cartons Problem?

I have cochins eggs I thought I'd try the egg carton hatch. But instead of zipping around it is going down the side, IS THIS NORMAL?

No they should zip around the big end and flip off the cap. That is the reason you shouldn't use a carton. Number one reason is it goes against everything that nature and progress has taught us.

This is first time with egg carton. It has piped through the shell and membrane but has not zipped any more. Do I help or see what happens? Not going to bed till it (he she) is out.
