Hatching in hova bator

I've always heard day 18. Years ago when I had chickens I used my hovabator and locked down on day 18, I had great hatch rates too. Is there a reason you need to do it early? I'd stick to the guidelines if I could. Make sure you've checked the air cells, and adjust the humidity. Also, don't be tempted to take the chicks out as they hatch.

Check this site out for more details on day 18:

Congrats, you're in the home stretch.

Well they are hatching at my school and day 18 is the Saturday, and we get Friday off so today is my only day to do it

Is day 17 to early to put incubator on lockdown

I'd go for it then, since it's your only choice. Let us know how the hatch goes, in really interested to see if/how it might affect things.

My teacher took the turner out on Friday so it was only a day early, no chicks yet, but tomorrow is the 21 day
