We are hatching keets but, a lot are dying after after birth. Some have lived as long as 2-3 weeks others are dying 3-6 days later. I am feeding with purinea game bird starter. I am using straw for bedding in their box. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Lisa

Welcome to BYC. I'm sorry about your losses. Do you have a heat light on them? They need warmth and they need to stay dry.

How is the hatching going? Are they hatching on time or too early or late? Early or late can indicate improper temps, which can led to some developmental problems, which may be the cause. Are they just dead one morning when you check on them or slowly getting ill and then dying? Are you giving them grit? Where/how are you housing them? Are they in with other birds or of mixed ages?
