This is our first time to incubate eggs - mama hen laid 17, then abandoned the nest, we put them in an incubator the next day.
On day 23 of being in the incubator, 3 of the eggs started piping and successfully hatched. Today is now day 29, and no other ducklings.
My big concern is these 4 eggs that have cracks and stuff oozing out of them. This just doesn't seem good to me. One of them had a small hole, looked like a duckling starting the piping process, then it sealed over and nothing else.
What's my best course of action? Re-candle and see if there is life/movement? Leave them alone for another day or so? It would be very very sad to give up just to find viable chicks in the eggs.
Any insight as to any rookie mistakes I might have made causing 3 to hatch on day 23 and none of the rest to hatch yet?
Thanks!
