I received mallards last year from a local breeder, and a few weeks ago I received 8 eggs. Of the 8, 4 of them have survived and have 10 days until the expected hatch date.

I’m aware that they need to be identified as domesticated and not wild, and to do so, you have to remove a back toe. Does anyone on here know how to properly remove the toe?

Whenever I docked their prop toe I would just use some sharp scissors. As soon as they hatch if possible and put some wound powder on the wound, if you don't have any, corn starch will work to stop.bleeding. They don't bleed alot if done early after they hatch.
