Hello BYC!
I set a dozen eggs a little under two weeks ago from my own hens, and was wondering what you all thought the mixes would turn out as! I’m asking primarily about my EE eggs. So, I’ve set four EE eggs, two green from my hen Stevie, who is white with a muff, and two blue from Debbie, who is white with no muff. The potential fathers would be a pure Welsummer, a Bielefelder mix, and a grey true ‘mutt’ chicken. (I.E I have no absolute clue what he could be hah.) Any ideas on if the muff and colored egg genes would come through? I’m hoping for more muffs since they are sooo cute! :fl
If you all have any ideas on what genes would come through, or if you had any mix hens that you think mine will come out like, please send pics! I’m just asking this for fun! Thanks guys!

You will likely get some will beards. I have a ton of mixes. This year I hatched a few Wellie crosses and a whole bunch of EEs too. If you have pictures of your possible parents, it could help. Here are some of my chicks.

If no roosters have muffs, then Debbie's chicks will not have muffs either.
From Stevie (who has muffs), you should get muffs on either half her babies or all of her babies.

From either hen, if the fathers have the genes for brown eggs, you should get daughters that will lay green eggs. You might also get some daughters who lay brown eggs.

The genetics information I'm using to say that:
There is a gene that controls muffs vs. not-muffs. (Muffs are dominant.)
There is a different gene that controls blue vs. not-blue in eggs. (Blue is dominant.)
Green eggs are "blue" with a brown coating on the outside.
Brown eggs are "not-blue" with a brown coating on the outside.
