I have hatched several ducklings out in my living room with a 40 watt light bulb attached to a reading lamp so that I could put the light close to the eggs. Mine were in a styrofoam cooler with a hole cut in the lid for the flexible reading lamp. They turned out fine. Good luck with this little one. If after 40 hours you may need to put a very small hole into the air sac with a screw is what I used. Then after that if it doesn't hatch you may need to assist but do that as a last resort.
We are only doing what people have probably always done that did not have an incubator but wanted ducklings. It does work and I did finally get an incubator but only had 2 hatch out of several eggs so my styrofoam box did just as well as it. lolYou guys are brave!
How are things going???? Any update?????I don't want to candle too much but I see a small yellow spot, I think it might be the bill. He has definitely penetrated the air sac, he is peeping a lot more this morning. I still hear him pecking away at the shell.
YEAH!!!!!! So happy to hear this!!!! Thanks for the update!!!The duckling is peeping more. He has externally pipped! He's resting right now, but will probably start unzipping later.![]()
Oh Great!!!!!It looks like he made another crack!!!![]()
