Hatching nightmares

I Had one egg hatch but she wasnt ready. Her Placenta was bloody and it looked like a liver. As she struggled her intestines came out and then I took her out of the brooder because at that point I knew she couldn't be saved. It was devastating but I just accepted this as a fact of nature. Was I wrong? Could I have helped her?
If the intestines were out, no you couldn't have helped her. I've had chicks hatch that didn't fully absorb their yolk-sac, in which case I place them w/ shell inside a little cup to finish it up. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, depends if something else is wrong or another organ is out.

I don't think you could have done anything about it... so sorry for your loss.

I figured that but it was gnawing at me the thought that maybe there was something I could have done different to help it. All I ended up doing was taking her out of the incubator and setting her outside because she was taking too long to pass in the incubator. I couldnt bare to take her life but I also couldnt bare for her to suffer death of slowly being turned inside out. I decided in that moment that dying of being cold was more humane.

The positives outway the losses:love
