Baby rolled out the egg and this was still in it?! This means it didn’t take in all the veins? 😭 does it have a chance to live?

Mom is still sitting still have 4 more to hatch! Hoping it’ll be okay!

Do I remove the empty egg shells or will mom move them when they all finish hatching?

it's OK; it's quite normal for eggshell insides to look like that. The chick will be cosy under mum drying off. Mum will stack the shells neatly inside each other and out the way. The best thing you can do is sit back and not interfere. She's got this!

Great news!!! Thank you!! 😀

I agree it is normal for the inside of the shells to look like that. I'd not be worried at all.

My broody hens never got that memo of stacking the shells neatly, but I leave them in the nest anyway. Some people interfere with the broody a lot, do all kinds of things. I leave mine alone.

After the hen takes the chicks from the nest I remove the bedding and all trash and put fresh bedding in the nest, setting it up so the other chickens can use it for laying. My nests are 2' to 4' above the coop floor so the hen does not take them back to the nest but just settles down with them on the coop floor at night.

6 babies hatched! 1 egg has not yet

1 egg has not cracked but I candles and it is still very alive! How long can it take for the last one to hatch?

it may take another day or two; hatching is a chick's first big challenge in life, and they don't all rise to it. I trust the broody's judgement; she will lead the chicks that have hatched off the nest when she thinks their need is greater. Their absorbed yolk will supply all the nutrition they need for 2-3 days, which is nature's way of making time for the slow or late hatchers.
