Hatching our first set of chicken eggs!

Well that’s not too reassuring lol
Don't listen to Shamo, he's just being a negative Nancy. Yes, keep the humidity up, if you need to open the incubator to add water do so. You're doing fine! Watch closely and be sure the chick does not get incased in the membrane. Don't help unless you have to. I had a chick that separated the shell, but 24 hours later was still laying there. I checked and the bottom half was wrapped in dried membrane, sorta like a mummy. I had to wet it and remove it. The chick is fine! Just pay attention. You got this! :hugs

I’ve hatched a lot with janoelle 12.....if you have pips etc, and don’t want to open to add water, you can use a syringe to add water through the vent hole.....(i use a marinade injector). the lid can be very awkward so when ready to move chicks to brooder, plan for an extra set of hands!! Good Luck w8th your hatch!!

Thank you again! First chick is out but it had some yolk sack still on it I’m hoping that’s ok. Most is off now but the is some that looks like ambilical ‍♀️ She’s seems weak I’m hoping it’s kust from the hatch.

Yes, the chick will look horrible when hatched and you may think it's going to die. It's not. Hatching is hard work! It will rest quite a bit and will try to stand eventually. Leave it in the incubator until it's plenty dry and "running around". I usually leave chicks in the incubator for 24 hours minimum. Thanks for the pictures! You are doing great!
