Hi, my broody hen is sitting on two fertilized goose eggs. She's very protective and turning them like mad, so I'm sure the eggs are fine. I'm worried that when they hatch they will be about five feet off the ground, because that is where the hen has decided she likes it. Won't the goslings break their legs when they hatch if they drop down?

I have never had chickens so this is just my knowledge of geese. Keep an eye on the chicken when hatching day is due. Or check the hen several times daily if possible. When the goslings hatch take them away as soon as you can......

Wild geese often nest on cliffs or old eagle nests. Just like wood ducks, the goslings drop to the ground. Because of their down and large surface area to mass ratio, they are not hurt. Your goslings will be fine.
