So lately i've been REALLY interested with the idea of incubating some pigeon or dove eggs and raising them myself. I have this neighbor a couple houses down that raised his pigeon when he found it as a baby and their relationship is soo adorable, that bird is attached to him and acts like a little dog haha. its allowed to free-range and comes and go when it pleases. I want one like that soo bad! My question is, how difficult is it to raise a baby pigeon/dove? What do i need to know about it? I really want to learn more about it!
Thanks a bunch

Pigeons aren't like chicks, they must be fed a pigeon milk that the parents regurgitate into their crops. You would have to buy imitation milk or make your own and feed at least 4 times a day. My advice would be to get some young birds about 6 or 8 weeks old and tame them down. It takes alot of work, but is easier than hand feeding.

yes i know they are tough to raise and feed, with the pigeon milk and stuff, but i just think itd be really neat to raise one and have it see me as its mother and be bonded with me.. like my neighbors pigeon is with him.. where would someone buy pigeon milk or the ingrediants to make it with? and what is pigeon milk made of?
