Hatching problem

I just use one of those mini mag flashlights. I take the eggs into a dark room and, putting the light right up against the egg, I shine it in the end with the air cell. By gently turning the egg with the light shining in it it is easy to see what's going on in a white egg. Dark brown or green eggs are harder to tell.

They were either infertile or the little embryo died before it could grow. I'm sorry... But I'm happy that you have 2 babies! It is really hard on eggs to go through the mail, that's why I try to get mine locally.

I'm just trying to learn. It was really a relief to just find egg yolk. I was praying there would not be a dead baby bird. Whew....

I'm happy about the babies too. I kiss them about every hour and they are starting to hate me.

Actually, one of them loves attention and the other one runs the other direction. They are just sooooo cute.

Awe, they are going to be so friendly with all that attention! Have you posted any pictures?

I'm glad for you that they were just yolk also. I had 6 duds that I pulled out last night and cracked open. 2 had embryos that were about an inch long and the other 4 had nothing. I sure hope all mine hatch, because I know they have little baby bird in them and I don't want them to die!
