So I have quail hatching. I have babys hatching a couple have been hatched for about 6 hours and the others are various times after.
My question is how long do I leave them in the incubator after hatch?

And will it hurt the eggs that a peeping to open up and take out the babys ?
I have some eggs that were put in 12 hour after the first ones and I dont want to kill my unhatched eggs or leave the babys in the incubator to long....

I appreciate any help thank you

They can go 48 hours without food or water because they can live off of the yolk, but I would go ahead and quickly take them out. I always take chicks out about 2 hours after hatch. Just mist the eggs with warm water right before you close the incunator to help bump the humidity back up.

Everyone does things a little different. I always wait 24 hours after the first one hatches before I open the incubator. I tend to have issues with shrink wrapping after I open my incubator but it's a cabinet incubator.

Spraying water is a good suggestion and should bring the humidity back quick. If it looks like not many more are pipped or zipping I would open it up quick, grab the chicks, spray some water, and close it up.

I have since moved my cabinet incubator into the bathroom so now I just get the shower going with hot water to fill the entire room with high humidity so I don't have to worry about shrink wrapping any eggs when I open up the incubator...

Yes its 4 foot long and the cool spot is 78 on the far end and 95 under the light.
I have a cover heater plate coming it will be here Wednesday. So I wont have to use the bulb.

When should they drink? I dipped there beaks in the water. Do I need to do it more than once??
Thank you for the help with all the questions.

That's perfect, just wanted to check. Brooder plates are awesome, you'll love it. They should be drinking by 2 days old at least. They need to drink before they eat anything. Make sure you crush their food really good for the first week, crumbles straight out of the bag are too big for them. Dip their bills in the water, too them up, dip them again, too them up, and then sit them down. They might drink more. You can also put some marbles in the bottom, they love shiny things. It also prevents them from drowning in the water.
