That's a good setup. My brooder is 4ft by 20". I keep my hot end around 100F even a little hotter sometimes. The cool end is usually around 80F. This allows them to position themselves where they are the most comfortable. I always say too warm is better than too cold as long as they have a cool zone to escape the heat.
You don't even need a thermometer but it gives you a good starting point. The chicks will tell you what they need. If they are directly under the light and climbing on top of each other they are too cold. If they stay far away from the light they are too hot. I like them to travel around the entire brooder then sleep on the edge of the the heat lamp light....
