Im giving mine chick feed at the moment.... do you know when they start laying? Is it when they reach 6 weeks?

About 6 weeks or so. But don't freak out if it takes a few more weeks. When they start laying they don't stop! Better have some egg cartons ready! Regular quail egg cartons won't fit the large eggs you'll be getting. You need chuckar egg cartons sold by GQF. They hold 50 chuckar eggs and really work great for the Coturnix eggs as well. some of your eggs will be the size of bantam eggs.

It depends on genetics, they could start laying at 6,7,8 or 9 weeks. Make sure they get enough light.
