hatching question

once an egg pips, how long does the hatching process take on average?

You are talking about chickens? Our average is about 12 hours... I think the shortest I've seen is about 6 hrs and the longest around 24. So, it varies. And you know what they say: a watched egg never hatches!!

thank you very much. Today is day 21 my hen has been setting. I am very excited. No pipping yet. I cant wait to get home from work to see if any progress has been made.
