This is the 28 day for my pekin ducks, I had 6 hatch yesterday. One of the ones that hatched today was piped for 2 days with his bill sticking out.He had one heck of a time getting out. One foot looks like it does not work at all. Anyway he has been out for about 2 hours and still wet. Nausty brow stuff under the wire he is laying on.

There are also abut 4 of them that have a hole that is only big enought to get there bill out. Been like that for some just today and the others 2 days. Not pipping like they should. I want to spray some water on them and see if that helps. I have no idea can someone help me out here. Thank you.

OK, first, it can take them 2 days to hatch. When did they externally pip? Are the unzipping in a counterclockwise direction yet?

RIght now, instead of spraying in water, I recomend instead that you use q-tips that are quite damp to moisten them embranes from the outside. I sometimes do a gentle misting.

Now, for the foot and nasty stuff baby, put him onto a piece of towel, you don't want him rubbing his naval against the metal wire. Feet in late babies can defintatley take a couple of days to right themselves. If you can, give him a drop or two of water with a very small amt (a pince/cup) of sugar, to energize him. It may take him a day or two to get on his feet. Keep the other pipped babies damp and moist, but be caustious with spray. I have used it, but only one ultra fine gentle mist. You run the risk of drowning them if they can't quite swallow water yet.

If they make no progress whatsover in 12 hours, it maybe time for extemely slow assist. PM me first. If you can, share a pic of egg babies and the weak hatchling. Just give his foot time, I see it pretty often, especially in late hatchlings. A pinched nerve takes a few days to recover and allow foot usage. Don't give up on him yet, seriously. Many many recover with no help in a few days. Water from a dropper of qtip is good.

Sorry I did not get back to you. Been busy got 12 more, woke up for some reason about a hour ago and had the last 3. I candled ones left and it looks like I have one more left. I did loose the one I was talking about but have leared allot from all of them being hatched. By the way first hatch for ducks. Will do it again. Thank you so much for the help.

The egg last egg to hatch is day 29 and is not in air sack yet. Hope this one makes it.

Thanks again
