Hatching questions: Day 23.

Just got home and checke on my little ones.. And I'm seeing the EXACT same thing! I think it's where the shell is getting thinnest from pecking. This Is the egg that has looked best throughout incubation, both growth and movement wise, so I don't get a bad feeling.. But I can't say I remember it from last year. But you're exactly right on the description- oily napkin, like a dark transparency. :)

Oh- and said egg is currently rocking and vibrating away, along with at least a couple others. :D

First pip, complete!! And it happened right where the oily looking spot was. And once that happened it came back to me, bc I remember watching the shell thin all the way around the zip. :)

Yea, mine internally pipped sometime today! I'm excited! I lightly tapped and opened a small hole and i could see the baby chick! I guess the oilyness is to make the eggshell lighter! I taped the crack back up (as i read you could do that). I am excited!

Woohoo! Did you see, I have one hatched? Look at my new av, he's adorable! :D

No new pips STILL this morning. I just knew I'd wake up to them. Everyone still peeping and moving though. We may hatch out together all day! :p

Wait- I thought I'd changes my av but haven't. And it won't let me right now lol.

But- tell me, what/how many egg do you have? Inwas thinking you said but looking back I'm seeing we didn't cover that.

Oh- and I'm already collecting for my next hatch- my Pekin lady has finally figured out how/where to lay! I'm getting an egg per day, three so far. How many do you think I should collect before setting?

When I collected my ducks had 7, because the wild hogs ate the other eggs (we got rid of them), only 3 made it, the others were quitters. You should put as many eggs as you want. I'd say collect as many as possible to fill your incubator
