but they are doing fine. I let them free roam for the first time today and they are adorable!

Bummer about the 4th chick. I hate that.
How is momma doing? Is she being good? I have a chair that I sit out in the yard with just to relax and watch the chicks/ducklings. Better than any reality TV show!

if you pm me your email i can send pics i dont know how to send to this website sadly.

It is ready for the brooder when it is all dried off and "poofy". Yes you can discard the shell. Are there more eggs hatching, or was this the only one? If there are more eggs, I like to keep the hatched chicks in a bit longer to cheer the other eggs/chicks on. Believe me, it works! The newly hatched eggs can go 2 days without food or water, so don't worry. When you write your reply all you have to do to add a pic is click on the picture icon on the right above your reply. I was just curious, I love the pictures of the newly hatched. :)

all is well for the 3 chicks they all are jumpy and cute in the brooder and it seems they dry faster outside the incubator the black one was washed blow dried then put in the brooder and is a little cute energetic ball the other one that was flipped is ok but its bleeding from one of its wings what should i do the blood seems still wet and sometimes theyd get tired and fall on their behinds the bedding is aspen. Also there is more pipping in the incubator yay but their a problem wont bacteria grow from the other chicks that hatched i took out whatever debris i could and their is still duck eggs inside aswell they are still turning will this affect them in anyway when should i sterilize.

I am going to get an incubator for my birthday! Its one of the cheaper ones so it might now work well but i really cant afford anything expensive. It is a 50 dollar one at tractor supply and it seems like it has mixed reviews. Some people say it hatched none while others say it hatched all. And yet others claim it hatched half. I an so excited! It holds a lot of eggs so we will see how this goes... I am using my own eggs
