Hatching shipped eggs tips

True. But the hatch rate is my concern. Buy 20 eggs and only half could hatch. No guarantees the eggs are fertile. But live chicks were guaranteed or they would replace them. At least a few years back they would. Death is a possibility of any livestock. If you are going to raise poultry you have to except that possibility. Dogs and cats as well. chickens are a lot more fragile and fatality rates are higher on that end of the food chain. In the beginning when we lost a couple it was devastated. It Is still heartbreaking don't get me wrong. But reality sucks when you care for something or someone. We lost a 2 nanny goats and 1 doeling this last season. I had waterery eyes for a week. It's not easy but a life has a way of reminding you how fragile and short it can be.

The infertile hatching eggs has happened a lot! And this has been local or shipped, unfortunately. But then someone is kind and honest. I'm so grateful to those. For example, one woman said that she has a 50% hatch guarantee or she will replace. That's impressive.

I like eBay! :) Just hatched out some adorable white polish chicks this weekend from a seller there. Mine is Crele. It's Crele. Not Creole... I mean, for heaven's sake. I just can't deal.

Would you give me the seller name? There is certainly nothing wrong with posting good names here. There is a Facebook page for good/bad egg -- where it's praise or poor experience with name, to prevent others from getting repeat.

If you want Crele eggs, talk to @juststruttin here on BYC or find her on Facebook. Deann is the pinnacle of reputable breeder. I got 8 Crele Polish eggs from her (paid for 6, got 2 extras) and 7 hatched! Can you believe?? All the way from California. She's amazing.

On eBay, two excellent sellers: wees1 (white polish--hatched 6 of 10---one of my incubators failed but all that were set in my brinsea mini hatched) and bmmkh (GL & WC Blue Polish--Bought 10, they sent 12, I got 10)

Also cannot recommend Brinsea enough. Aaaaaand...as my flock matures, I plan on having GL, BL, WC Black, WC Blue, Crele & White Polish to ship in the spring. You can follow along on my fb in my signature line if you're interested. We will have Marans and Orps as well.

Awesome! I am following you now. I didn't see where you are located? Are Polish all skittish? I love their look, but really prefer the calm nature.

I'm in Middle GA (Macon)...I do not find the Polish to be skittish at all. They are also among the heartiest shipped eggs I've received. With all things I think it depends on handling and care. One of my crele pullets is the friendliest little girl.
