Well, I'm jumping on the bandwagon. I'm itching to hatch more babies so decided to try with some supermarket eggs (I know the odds are very low, this is just for fun!). I bought organic, free range eggs as well as regular eggs. They're going to settle and warm up overnight and then I'll be placing them in. The first few are dark brown, and the others are white. Not sure what breeds I'll get (if any). The organic eggs are from Egglands Best, while the white eggs are from Great Value. I'll update if I see any progress with these guys. Wish me luck! 🐣

I’ve seen this be successful with quail, but never chicken eggs. I didn’t think egg producers kept roosters?
Depends on the facility. I think that some pastured egg companies keep there hens pastured, and sometimes with a rooster?

Well, everything has settled for 24 hours so I popped them all in the bator. Time to cross my fingers and wait 21 days! (Well, with a candle in between!)

Also, if anyone could tell me what most egg farms breeds are that would be awesome! I checked Egglands Best and it looks like they have maybe leghorns and RIRs? But it's difficult to find any info. Great value has very little info on their chickens either.

I think Sex links, (Or Golden Comets, or whatever you call them) are very common. RIR, and whatever breed lays white eggs I think. I really have no idea! Haha!

Good luck! This is so much fun! I did this last summer only got one chick hatched out of six eggs, but now my girl is laying eggs and I just hatched her first daughter. Ended up being one of my favorite chickens!
She came from a medium brown egg fairly sure her mom was a sexlink and after many postings about her on BYC pretty sure her dad was a white leghorn.😊
