I can't catch a break on my first hatching experience. This week I had to hatch assist two of my eggs because they pipped on the small end of the egg. Both are doing well. I have two more duck eggs that I put on lockdown on Monday. I noticed that one had a pip this morning on the correct side of the egg, I can see part of the shell missing and the membrane looks white, not yellow like my other eggs and there was no external hole for air. There has been no change in the egg since this morning. Do I need to assist with making an external hole for this duck?
I thought my second egg had not had a pip yet, but I just discovered it has actually done so, but on the small side of the egg.....again! This one is yellowish like my other two and it has an external hole and I can see it breathing.

I am worried that the white membrane means that it is too dry. Advice please!

Don't worry about which end of the shell the chicks pip. They will usually hatch ok. You can mist the eggs with warm water.

I am more worried about the white membrane and no external hole for the egg trying to hatch on the correct end. Do I need to make a hole? My other three eggs have had a yellowish membrane.

If you do assist it can be worse than not helping. Is the chick alive? What day are you on?
I put them in the incubator on May 10 and on lockdown on Monday morning June 5th. I am not sure if you count May 10 as day one or May 11 as day one. I am mainly concerned if I need to make a pin hole sit it can breathe. I am not wanting to assist any further unless necessary. This one is white vs the others being yellowish. What does that mean? Thanks for your help.

What do you recommend the humidity to be? Is the white color ok on the membrane instead of yellow?

I do hear a baby, but I can't tell which egg it is.

I would put the humidity up around 75%. I incubate at around 30% and hatch at around 75%. I the chicks will move around and the higher humidity makes it easier. The color of the membrane could be moisture related. There are so many things I don't know like the humidity. Are these ducks or chicks?

I just re-read your first post that it is duck eggs and they take longer than chicken eggs. They should be starting to hatch. I'll ask my daughter, she has more experience with ducks.
