Hatching Updates for this weekend, MORE PICS!!!

Donald congrats on the great hatch! Those guys are awfully cute!

I believe mine may be done hatching, although I still have 3 unhatched eggs - don't look like they're doing anything. So, I got an 86% hatch rate and have 19 healthy chicks!!

They are cute little poopers - already cleaned the paper towels 2x today!!

Flying_squirrel, your chickies are beautiful, too! What a nice assortment. The one with what looks like a black stripe down its back is so cute it makes you want to carry it around with you all of the time. I'm so tempted to pick one of the chickies out of this hatch and socialize it by carrying it around with me, but ultimately I want them all to get along and be part of the larger flock.

Dispy, thanks for identifying the colors of my chicks. I haven't done this hatching thing before, but it sure is fun. I've got those Salmon Favorelles eggs from eBay and some OEGB eggs from one of my bantam hens in my new incubator at the moment, on Day 5. They seem to be cookin' right along and the automated egg turner is such a lifesaver.

My wife has warmed up to the baby chickens since they hatched, but she is still anxious for the incubator Silkies to join broody Betty as soon as possible. I think that my wife remembers the baby chicks that I brooded in cages in the sunroom last spring and how they made a bit of a mess with their feather dust plus the poo smells.

I haven't told her yet that whatever hatches in the next batch will probably need to spend some time in the sunroom until they are large enough to coexist with Betty and her babies without being trampled. I'm already in real deep anyway, so just let me know what you've got in mind for me to try hatching next.

And 22 Delaware eggs were taken out of the turner this afternoon to begin their final countdown.

Yes TSA, I went to your pics awhile ago. Dang, those were some awesome photos and you have some cute little ones (the kiddos too!!) Don't know how you managed to get such great shots, I mostly sat in front of the incubator just stunned and amazed at the miracle of it all.
