Hatching, which end up? Day 20

Sally, thank you so much but I have one question..... There is always a but involved somewhere

I understand the process, but I cant find anywhere where they should pip ( I know big end) but up towards the sky as most pictures are showing or down towards the bottom.

My one had a star crack at 11:30 am today, now he has definitely broke through because he is talking now and then, however he is facing down towards the ground, his crack shell is a hairline away from the ground.
TYPICALLY his beak is towards the LOWER DIP IN THE AIR CELL as shown below

Below is what an internal pip it looks like.
The beak is thrust through the inner membrane into the air cell.

OH and UPDATE!!!

and if not TIME TIME TIME read and re-read that article
As long as it has access to air through the pip, it can sit there all day, even after the blood vessels recede. It's not going to starve. It has plenty of yolk. It's not going to dehydrate, unless you get impatient and begin removing shell before it's time to do so causing bleeding or too much exposure to outside air."

Often, your 1st baby to pip is NOT the 1st to hatch. It can be, but just as often isn't. Some chicks pip & hatch very quickly while others pip & then sit there for what seems like forever before making any more progress. Just remember, chicks are just like human babies. Some get through the labor & birth process quickly & some seem to take forever. All of this is completely normal. Just let them do their thing & soon you will have babies running everywhere.

Ok we are at 7 hours and nothing new......the egg has not moved positions. No new cracks or other eggs hatching

He must be through as he chirped 3 times last night loud and clear. I am sitting on my hands, not touching anything

We are now on our 22nd day now. The one who pipped on wed. at 11 am is still alive but only a 1/2 inch or less opening. There is another on who pipped yesterday am early and now has made a little more progress then the first. The heat is maintaining between 98-100, the humidity we never had a guage, however we have a wide 4x4 inch tub of water with sponge and also the wells below.
They both talk like crazy and you can see them moving.
The one who has been at it the longest is opening at the bottom and has a dark granules or dischrge the crumbles out, he is getting up the side a little but cant be sure what he is doing...
I will try to take pick.

The others are showing no movement at all, a few were moving on wed

well 50 hrs later I helped, she had dried her little back, wing in position to the membrane so she could not adjust to chip out. No blood anywhere but she is definitely having issues. after I chipped egg shell the membrane had pulled away and was hard and dry. I Left her that way for two hrs to see if she could stretch it open, raised the moisture and used qtips to keep the membrane wet. final put a small crack in loose membrane and she eventually kicked out. She still has membrane stuck to back but it appears her body is tuck with her neck down and one leg up. she can move and is thrashing about . its like she is stuck in egg position. Letting it play out as others are hatching.
