with the water container, it is hard to tell from the pic if you have or not, sorry if you have, but it would be best to put a brick or rock in there, so the chicks won't fall in and drown

No news this morning. I woke up before sunrise, with more anticipation than I've experience since I was a kid at my grandma's for christmas!. I went out in the semi dark with a flashlight and could hear peeps, but saw nothing. An hour later, I didn't even hear peeps. I also read it can take a long time, so back to waiting, I guess!

Thank goodness for this thread, because I don't think the "real" world understands what I'm going through at all right now!

So cool that you have peeps! They are probably resting up for the big breakout. What type of eggs do you have under your girl?

Woah!! Help!
I have a chick! I was feeding the broodies some scratch and yogurt and a fluffy little chick crawled out from under them!! And, then they started pecking it!!! So I picked her up and got a quick cuddle and put her back and she crawled under. I took the scratch away and put chickstarter in the nest, but now I'm a little scared! I think they just were telling her this was their food, but it was not what I was expecting!
What should I do?
Nothing happening with the other eggs yet, as far as I can tell. She was all fluffed out, so has been out of the egg for around for at least a few hours now.

exciting!!!! I have no idea why they pecked it. Keep checking all day if you can and get a brooder ready inside just in case. Good Luck!

Yeah, I'm not sure either, but I think they're just telling it it's not ready to venture out. I'm getting some helpful responses on a specific thread I posted about it.
The other eggs don't look anywhere near hatching - it's still early - not even a full 21 days yet since I put them under her, so who knows if/when the others will hatch. I'm going to try to let them be and keep monitoring the situation. In the meantime, I've managed to sneak it out again, and they don't seem unduly aggressive with it, and they're holding tight on the other eggs.
