Don't quote me as an expert or Doc on that, but it is what I have observed with Chica, and in all aspects (minus the slightly swollen area around her right eye) she is healthy and "normal". I freaked out when she was younger, around 9 weeks. She had TERRIBLE breath. I did some searching and while a lot hinted toward sour crop and such with a smell, I knew she didn't have that problem. She is now 43 weeks, still alive and kickin' and back to having funky breath with all the grass. I watch her sometimes. She chomps away, much like a cow. Would make sense that she has cow breath snot smell, huh?
I vote GO ARAUCANA!!That said, though I free range, going from one 50lb bag of feed for 3-1/2 weeks to one bag a little over a week is a bit scary. It's those rowdy youngsters I tell ya! I am chickened out!![]()
Oh, I wasn't using your info on that smell as the doctor's advice

I hope Chica's eye is all better!
Thanks for the vote! I think my feed is disappearing much quicker too, though not yet quite as quick... we'll see after next hatch then, I guess.

Shelby... I really have no idea, I thought that they couldn't survive in a broken egg (or at least broodies usually discard a broken one in my experience), but who knows... maybe some experts on other threads. I do hope the others are all okay,
Hope everyone else is okay too, it has been far too quite on this thread! Hopefully you all are just busy and will be back soon. Have a great weekend everyone!
