Hatching with mama

Well today was day 12 and I candled my eggs . I had ten eggs, one busted a few days ago and I have 7 babies in there!!! Well 5 for sure there’s two that were different, but IM SO excited!!!!!!!!
8 or nine days and we will hatch !!!

Today I was getting the extra eggs out and we now only have five eggs !!! I looked good and found small shell pieces , They broke and I guess she ate them?????

That does happen. A good broody will remove bad or broken eggs. A bad one may eat her own eggs. Also if other hens can get to the eggs they can break and eat them too, so hens are best separated when they set.

Ok so I waited until night time and I moved her and her eggs into an enclosure , but when I peeked in with a flashlight she was off the nest scratching around
So hopefully she’ll set again and be safe in there .

Oh my god!!!! This morning mama was perching
I guess me moving her made her abandon her eggs what do I do??????

Put her back? It all depends on how long the eggs were cold. Sometimes they do okay.

Ok this morning I let her out and she ran right back to the original box she was in so I put the eggs under her and she’s been setting , I can only wait now but if any hatch , the box she choose is way off the ground so that’s going to be tricky
I’ll have to move her again I guess after they hatch

I was lucky when I moved my broody she set and stayed. But she doesn’t have a perch in her little maternity ward. Eggs due to hatch thursday. So excited just like you.
