Hatching

I had two ducks start pipping this morning and when I came home this afternoon they had died in the Shell. I have been reading and some info says they need to be upright, not laying down some say that I need a Hatcher? The temp was right today was the day to take the Turner out. So not sure what happened. Help.

if your ducklings were pipping this morning you took that egg turn out too late... you want to take the egg turn out on lockdown day

From my calculations today was the first day of lockdown, can they hatch early

they can start early if lockdown was supposed to be today then they are really early, but that's ok it happens. Just take the turner out and lockdown as usual. As far as having to be upright, in nature the duck can't put them upright so they will be fine.... good luck with your hatch

I have a question about my duckling and what is happening. The "sticky" membrane is not softening up even with me trying to keep it from hardening. This is my first hatch and she is still breathing and I don't want to give up on her.
