My quail finally hatched but there is something like a cord attached to the chick and shel do I cut it

I have been crushing the shell to lighten the load and cutting the cord a couple days after it dries..

Is it still attached to both the chick and the bottom of the egg? If so, try to get the chick to stay in the bottom of the egg until it naturally detaches. If it is just attached to the chick, let it fall off naturally. If you tug on it or try to cut it, you could open the chick's abdominal cavity.
