I’m very new to all of this but am excited to learn everything I can! My daughter in law gave me a chick from one of her hens and when candled, to her, it looked like it was ready to go into lockdown. I’m concerned that maybe we rushed it. Today is day 2 with temp around 99 degrees and humidity at 65-70% and have seen no activity. Is it ok to lockdown early? And how long is long enough to give it to hatch? This is my first hatch and am cautiously excited. Thanks in advance for all your advice!

She didn’t tell you what day the egg was developing? If you see 3/4 of the egg looking dark, then yes it goes into lockdown 99.5F / humidity 65-70%.

She has two hens that are brooding and I don’t think she realized it was there. The other ones she kept looked empty, but this one was pretty full. I’m new to this and don’t really know what to look for. I’m glad to know that my numbers are right anyways lol.
