How can I tell when my hen is broody?

She will stop laying and spend more time in the nest. Check this article out. It was recom. to me by a byc member. Be sure to read all parts! My first broody hatched out her eggs on tuesday...

if you're hen is broody she'll stop laying and sit tight in the nest box, usually if a hen is in the next box late afternoon I know my hen is broody.

If you take her out of the nest box and she goes straight back she's broody.

eating less drinking less, spending less time outside.

If she bawks and pecks you as you lift her off the nest.

if she is broody, give her some eggs...if you don't have eggs give her some fake ones until you do have eggs.

Did you jinx me??? This afternoon I went to the coop and found my Silkie X in the nest....still there tonight growling at me!
