I’m introducing myself. I am Jana. Been in the chicken world for about three years now. I dove in head first and as usual, put the cart before the horse when I brought home three adorable chicks from a place called Millers that has since closed down in my hometown. I got home with those chicks and I guess decided they would just live in a large plastic tote in my closet for the rest of their lives because I had no housing built or bought for adult chickens.

The very next day I started building a coop. It turned out to be the cheapest, sturdiest, cutest thing and I was proud of it. When those three babies grew up, they transitioned into their new coop and loved it too. That flock of 3 turned into 38 before long. And 38 free ranging chickens did NOT make my husband happy. There was chicken poop on EVERYTHING!!! So, I gave my bird-loving uncle 31 chickens, that he happily accepted. He calls me about them weekly and gives me updates because I cried for a week after I had to let them go.

Anyhoo, as of now, I have only 7 chickens, 3 of which are adorable roosters…I know, I know…my chicken math ain’t mathing right now. It’s ok, everyone is (for now) living in peace and harmony. Give it another month, I’ll probably have a different story hahaha!

Glad to be here. Thanks for reading ā˜ŗļøšŸ‘‹šŸ¼

DEFINITELY. You need to remove all but the best cockerel and give the boys to your uncle too.
