I’m curious if anyone can tell me if a broody hen stopped laying on her eggs after 1 single chick hatched (it was only for a night) are the others a lost cause now?
Part 2 of this question is..... were the other eggs fertilized? I find it interesting that she went missing for 23 days and I assume the additional 20unhatched eggs are hers. But she obviously wasn’t with the rooster during her brooding

:welcome Hens generally leave the nest within 24 to 36 hours of the first chick hatching. Unless all eggs were added after she started setting, it is very unusual for only one egg to hatch. Can you move the remaining eggs to an incubator ? When hens go broody, they stop laying so either she developed a clutch or other hens added eggs to her nest.
