I have a 2 year old golden laced Wyandotte that this morning when i just went out to feed and water was in the pen area with the rest but not looking good. She is Haunched down like she is trying to poop but just standing there not moving. She moved a little bit but as the other ladies went by and everything she wouldn't move. I tried bending down and looking and her vent but the way she was I couldn't see it. But her fluffy feathers underneath that area had a running white poop on it, not a lot but that's what I could see. It also looked like her fluffy part was bigger than normal. I haven't gotten in there yet to pick her up and really look. I will tell you that she has been last to come when I call while they are free rangin the past couple of days. And that also last Thursday the neighbor dog was not watched and came over and just chased the chickens, no fatalities, but this same chicken had hide for 4 hours. Not coming when called. Any suggestions as to what to do and look for would be great!

The first thing that comes to mind is egg bound -- that is where I would start on the process of elimination for causes of her distress. You need to get your hands on her and start with palpation from the outside to see if you feel a mass around the vent that would feel like an egg. From there you can wash, glove (if you like) and lube a finger - insert it gently into the vent and see what you feel. You can clean her vent and begin helping to resolve potential egg binding by giving her a nice soak in some warm water (with epsom salt if you have it).
If you do not feel an egg from inside or out then we move down the list and on to the next possible issue -- cleaning her up and getting your hands on her is the first step.

Okay, I did bring her in and give her a soak in the Epsom bath and I could feel a hard spot in her abdomen by her butt. I didn't stick finger in but I can do that next when I give her a bath again here soon. I have her inside in a cage in a dark area. Trying to create a moist heat.
