Havahart trap.... FAIL.... =(

I will shoot it. It has picked off way to many of my chickens/baby ducks.

Maybe, I'll call someone to come out and pick it up. IF they will.

Lu King... HAHAHAHAA

thats funny. I expected a chicken in my trap!

That's good. I guess I was asking in preparation of being judgemental. I know way too many people that trap skunks and then after throwing a tarp over the trap, carry it away and leave the poor thing to starve because they don't want to be bothered with the smell. I also don't like drowning, maybe because that would be my last choice of ways to die (if I had a choice). I have heard if you keep them covered they don't spray.

I'm not familiar with the kind of trap you are using, but I got a live trap from TSC and it has 1 door. I had to do a little operating on it when I got it home (bending the top down a little) to make it work, but it was great ofter that. I caught two raccoons and an opossum, and I need to start setting it again as I know there's something living in the carriage house.

We got that same one from TSC and after a little adjustment it works great. Caught a couple cats so far. The skunks won't go in it for some reason. I just wake up now to the commotion in the back yard and know when something is wrong. Last year I killed 3 skunks in the duck pen. They are real hard on call ducks and ducklings.

LOL! I havent found where that bugger is living!

Filling the hole with water will do no good as they have multiple "excape routs".

Here is a spray-proof trap (pricey)

I suppose one could be fashioned out of PVC, but I have been unsuccessful at finding plans thus far.

If I were you, and you do catch the thing in the Havahart trap, I'd stand a good distance away and dispatch it before it sees you!
Good luck!

I no longer prefer the double door type traps . The one I used to have had the trip pan located in the middle of the trap and larger predators would step on it while their rears were still blocking the door and get away . I ended up using it as you did [ one door closed ] and used a rock to prop up the front of the trip pan so the predator had to go in farther before tripping it . After a two legged predator stole that trap I got another brand with only one door and the trip pan located farther in . Works much better and lower in price . I've used a just a little STP or Lucas oil additive on the area where the trap door hinges and trigger to speed up the drop of a larger trap I built big enough to catch coyotes or hogs . I will not go in to the details of dealing with the two legged pest . For raccoons , possoms , and skunks my favorite bait is a part of an ear of sweet corn , but also used dry cat food or sardines with success .

If you catch a skunk , covering it with blanket and killiing it with engine exhaust " MAY " work ; but to be honest I have a trap that was thrown away by its previous owner because it was sprayed . I soaked it in a creek for a few days then power washed it and let it sit in the breeze for a couple of weeks .

o my!!! i sure hope i dont have as much trouble!! i set two rocks on the doors. IF that wont work, ill go back to using one door. Gosh darn it! This is too much work? HAHAHAHA

We had a brave friend, who figure out how to approach a troublesome skunk, and pick it up with getting sprayed.
He stuck it in a full rain barrel with a lid on it.
Trouble was, there was still about 1 inch of head room, and the skunk swam for all its worth and never drowned, LOL!

Good luck! I haven't caught anything in mine either. Doggone voles keep going in, eating the bait which causes the door to shut and then they squeeze out the holes. I know they're voles because I have caught them in the Tomcat trap.
