so i have 8 new chicks i got on 3 days ago, when i got them the feed store said they were only a few days old. this makes sense because they are very small (to me atleast). this is my first time raising quail chicks so i dont know how fast they get big (idk if that makes sense). i noticed today that they are molting on their wings, i thought this was odd because they are so young. i was hoping some one coud tell me how old they have to be to start the molting prosses.
thanks

I would believe you got Coturnix? They grow fast, they can start flying in a week and in 6 weeks start laying so fast I tell you

Soon the cute fluffy chicks will reach their ugly stage

Sounds like Coturnix!

They grow so fast, but you will have them at their 'ugly teenager age' within a few days/one week. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Have fun!

thanks for the help, i was sort of confuesed.... i have raised chickens in the past and they took a few weeks to grow up... would you happen to know about what age they start to lay?

The chicks hatched.... very cute... a week later, they looked like aliens. I thought for sure I had made a mistake. My wife, who cannot understand my incubation projects, could barely look at them. Now, they look great!
