Have a real dark egg anyone have suggestions?

I really have to give a big shout out to the ladies from the duck/goose threads. They were very helpful to me in private message. MissLydia; 8GeeseaLaying; And psue to name a few. They were awesome in helping me this evening.

And also to everyone else who was cheering the little fella on. I am hopeful it recovers from its navel hernia (that's what it looks like to me).

I swabbed it with some iodine and placed it in the brooder. And its totally in rest mode.

Thanks for that link Amy I knew I saw that post somewhere but, when your freaking out all you can do is PM people post your own thread and hope for the best. The pictures in that helped me decide that I think it's just from the duckling trying to detach too fast while it being too dried out inside. I did wet it inside a bit with the qtip when I was trying to get it unstuck. So could be a combination of the two of those things put together. I did fill a little water and a little dish of food but decided against leaving it in over night. Don't want it to slip in there and drown while I sleep. So I will put it back tomorrow if it's a little more steady on its feet. After I clean its navel again before work.

It's been sleeping in there now for 8 hours. Moving from space to space in the brooder. That's a good sign I hope. I still haven't placed any water or food in the bator because I have not seen it stand up and walk with its head up. Although if my belly button was dragging on the ground I wouldn't want to stand up either I guess. Figure I will do that tonight after I come home from work if it's looking more alert.

I hope it can heal up!! He's so cute!!

I flipped him over to clean it today and I couldn't find it. I hope that means it's getting better fast. ;)
I love his black feet I hope he keeps them.

I'm not even a duck person (is that a category?) but I've been pulling hard for this little dude too! I almost dreaded clicking on the thread this morning. Hang in there, Gilligan - we're all rooting for you!

It's already closing up??? Oh wow!!

He's definitely a fighter. After 3 days wrapped up and dry....gotta love the little guy!
Ya and he's up and moving around when I got home from work. So I gave him the water dish and some food. If he's doing good by tomorrow after work I will try moving him in with the other ducklings. He needs a special name.
