I live in the city and must figure out who the rooster is, he crowed this morning. Will he crow through-out the day or just in the morning. I will take photos tonight and post and maybe some of you experts can help me identify. They were born on August 28 and am hoping it isn't my Georgia or Hennypenny.

photos below 1-11, please tell me if any of them look like a rooster - there are only 4 but I can't tell them apart so I put up all the phots

I think they're all different. One of my BO's crowed for the first time on Monday. Since then he has been crowing 10-12 times in quick succession each morning when he is let out of the coop and then he goes quiet for the rest of the day. But I've heard of others who do it on and off all day long.

He might crow throughout the day, might not. If all your chickens are the same type, you should be able to tell by looking at them -- one will be different! Look at the hackle feathers (collar around the neck) and see if they are fine and pointed. Look right in front of the tail at the back and see if he is getting long, fine feathers there (saddle feathers) and look at the tail itself and see if he is beginning to get arching, curving feathers in it (sickle feathers). Look to see if the comb is larger and redder.

On the other hand, I got 16 chicks -- kept looking for differences -- couldn't tell which was which -- turns out 14 were boys!!!

Good luck, posting pics is a good idea if you can't tell.

Thank you, thank you, I hope you guys are right so far. #1 is our favorite bird, Henny. The wife and I love them all, maybe we were hearing things this morning.
