We have a flock of 10 chickens and one rooster that are two years old all raised at the same time. This year we add 6 more chics. They were raised in the house until about seven to eight weeks old. They now have been out side about three to four weeks and the new chicks stay in the coop they never come out in the the pen at first they did and now they will just stay inside only one comes out to grab scraps we put out but quickly runs back in. we have watch and the other chicken do chase them maybe a peck once in awhile to show who in charge but i'm not sure what to do and to make things worst we found one dead inside the coop today. it wasn't bleeding or feathers ruffled up just lying dead. so this weekend i'm going to clean coop and wash it out with some bleach water to try get it really clean. Any suggestion on a good safe way to heavy clean the coop and and ideas what I should do about this other baby chics who won't come out.

Are you sure that they are getting enough to eat and drink? Do you have feed and water accessible to them in the coop?

Yes, we keep the food inside the coop so the birds can have at it when ever they want. The water is kept outside up until last week we had water inside but i have seen the chicks come out and drink from the water outside so that,s why we stopped putting it inside.

It sounds like the older flock is bullying the babies, and possibly killed one of them. How did you integrate them? Do they free range or are they in a run?

you need to seperate them! they are too young to go with the big ones! ive got 7wk old chicks going out next week but into a pen with a coop until they are 20wks and full grown
