I have been there a time or two....as a newbie many ages ago LOL! Once you learn the ropes of caring and loving your chickens, mutt or not, you would be just as good as the rest of us and grow with us like a family. Sure all families got bickers and debates going on but we all know the good manners to be decent and helpful to anyone including newbies.

Even you have posted your chickens, many of us are buyers of hatching eggs and we want to be sure is that is what we are paying for and what the breed respresents that the next generation is going to look like their parents or would they be different. Some of us are more knowledgeable about chicken breeds and can recognize the breeds of each individual chicken or chickens.

Just hang around and dont give up. Its too easy to give up simply because one bad apple makes it a bad day for you, just ignore it and keep trying to keep your pride for your chickens up HIGH and if you are proud of your chickens, no one can take that pride away and there will always be someone else who would appreciate in your chickens.

There has been mention of "groups" or "clicks" of folk - and I must admit, I'm probably IN one of those.
Let me explain it though....

Once you're around and on and off long enough you kinda learn the names of the folks that are "in line" with your own personality and you become more comfortable, and you know they will never take anything you say the wrong way. I'm very careful who I say what to, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, or have someone take what I say the wrong way..... SO I "pick" on a few I know, who will NEVER take anything the wrong way - and those are the folks I play around with - you'll see posts like that now and then.

I can honestly say, Bantymum, Bliss, Purple, MD and RR (to name the culprits) will never take anything I say the wrong way, and they know I won't either..... when I tease them about something, I know they know I'm just TEASING them.... I would never do that to a newbee for fear of causing hurt feelings...

Anyhoo - thats just my 2c on the "clicks" and "groups" mentioned here...... and I don't think any of the groups of folk have been the cause of any of this upset anyway.

I'm sorry if anyone has been feeling "left out" ....... I'd be more than happy to tease you about your hairy back, purse carrying or anything else that comes up.................

I have cross bred chickens that I use for my laying hens. I just love them. When they hatch you never know what you'll get. If you stick around, which I hope you will, you will get to know which ones of us are the teasers and you will start to enjoy the banter in the posts. It took me awhile but I think I got the hang of it now. I think I can speak for all of us when I say if you have been offended by someone let them know, they might not realize it. Hope you stick it out... Gloria

Would it be possible for you to post a link here to the threads that you're reffering to? Then maybe whoever is at fault can clarify exactly what they meant.

Sometimes people post responses that they think are positive, and then they are interrpeted as being negative, and the person who posted the response may not even know, so they don't have the chance to clarify.

I'm with the others here concerning any harrassing emails or PM's, turn them over to the mods.

Nothing wrong with mixed breeds, I have both mixed and pure breeds in my flock.

Sometime things can just be misunderstood on forums its just impossible sometime to figure out people's actual tone of their posts are.

I would like to ask you if you could please when you post use capital letters and don't double space and use correct punuctuation, it makes your posts very difficult to read the way you are posting now.

Whoever is harrassing you doesn't seem to know the BYC rule that everyone has to love everyone else, lol/

Nobody has to be in a clique to be here. There are some who become closer friends than others for various reasons as would be natural, but everyone is equal here at BYC. Sorry, I just don't see cliques. I see a couple of groups of silly jokesters who get a special kick out of each others' brand of humor, but that seems pretty normal to me. No one gets favored, if that's what you mean.
