somebody snitched us out to the landlady, who read us the riot act & said that we'd be evicted if we didn't get rid of the chicken. I went to the local petting farm & talked to the lady, who said to bring Roo in to see her tomorrow. We are both sad. Roo is such a darling & so cute. She wont be able to sleep with a human anymore, but there is a heated garage, for her to live in until she gets big enough to wrestle with the others. They have several RIR's & they are all simply gorgeous. I took them some oats & talked to them about Roo. My poor baby! She is such a social butterfly!

her name is actually Rudy, Roo is just a nickname.

We want to move to Berkeley. trying to.

waaaaaaah my Roo-Roo!!!!!!!!!!!! my precious little baby!!!

Out of my 4 straight run RIRs, 2 of them proved to be Roos and they had to go. I cannot have roosters here so I put up an ad on Craigslist, advertising "Free Frying Chickens". I gave a brief description of why I was not prepared to dress these two for the freezer at the moment, but encouraged anyone who wanted a pair of tasty young roosters to drop me a note. I put up a couple of good digital pics with the ad.

In 15 minutes I had half a dozen responses, and cancelled the ad! It took me longer to draft the ad than it did to get a response to it.

A young lady here locally was looking for RIR roos for her flock, and stopped by that afternoon to pick both of the boys up. They are happily ensconced with their own harem elsewhere, and they made room in my coop for a pair of Black Jersey Giant hens.

Give Craigslist a try, and you may be surprised how quickly you can move those roos....
