Have to tell this story..... Best guard dog ever

What a great story! Way to go Misfit! You have yourself a great dog. I'm sorry you had to go through all that though.

I would like to post a pic, but I still don't have a camera. I'll see if I can borrow one! She really is a great dog. She was a valentines present from my dh when I was pregnant with the last baby, she was five weeks old.

My heart aches for all you losses, but swells for Misfit and her great job.

to all, hope your skies clear up soon.

Rebecca 100, I know how traumatic it can be to lose a parent. There's nothing like it. And I've also been through tornadoes-HORRID things!!! So your story brought tears to my eyes, that your dog would help you do something you couldn't, in a time when you REALLY needed it. The person is right who said, "There's nothing like a good dog." I guess that's why man has been keeping them as companions/pets/workers, etc. since time immemorable. I'd love to own a good livestock guardian, and have been looking into just such a dog recently. I bet you'll guard her with your life, and rightly so.

Poor Misfit went through the tornado too. She had puppies so when I left I made sure she was inside. Actually we had three dogs and I let them all in since it looked as if it would rain. I went to the neighbors house because we had lost electricity and I couldn't get my phone to work. I had NO idea there was a tornado on the way. My neighbor ran out and started grabbing kids out of my car when we pulled up and yelled that there was a tornado on the way. We rode it out in her basement. There was no damage at all at her house since she was over a mile away from us. When it was over we went home and the mobile we lived in was gone. The frame was wrapped in a U shape around an oak tree and the rest of the trailer had been unfolded like a box. Only one of the dogs met me when I pulled up and I quite truly thought the rest were dead. Misfit met us the next morning along with her pups and the other dog. The chicken shed roof had been mixed with the mobile and my Dh picked part of it up and my son's little bantam roo tore out from under it squacking and running! I can just imagine the ride he'd been on!! It was the Arkansas Feb. 5 tornado last year that broke records for length on the ground. May 31 this year my dad passed away from a preforated ulcer. When I tell someone I am having a bad year, I mean it!!!!
