Hello
We are new backyard chicken owners and have a scenario we would like to get help with.
Little of info to introduce what we have...
We have a total or 18 chicken from a wonderful hatchery (6 wyndots 6 orpingtons 6 brahmas) . Two of them turned out to be roosters (lavander orpington and a dark Brahma) . We have read the pros and cons of having a rooster (protect and warn the hens). We live in the country and have plenty of owls and hawks. We live in 1.25 acres fenced yard and we built a beautiful 8x27 coop with run similar to Carolina coops company. They free range sometimes trying to finish another fence to keep them away from our patio and pool.
Here is our issue...
The issue is that our orpington rooster acts like a good rooster and not aggressive with anyone (chickens or humans) we raised them since they were 2 days old) the dark Brahma is extremely docile sweet more like a hen even though he is the biggest and towards the bottom of the pecking order 😕. Yesterday we noticed two hens not being aggressive but plucking his back feathers. I reached out and separated him so thos girls can stop. We think maybe food got on his back they tried to get it off and then feathers started coming off and now looks bare so they keep picking on it. Well of course we stoped that by placing him in a large dog crate but still in the coop. Ordered some medicine and now waiting for it
Question...
We are concerned the other rooster that's more dominant will have an issue not having him right next to him and then get aggressive...or the other girls get mean with him...we also need suggestions on what to use as a deterrent for any to pack on that area. He is not hurt and there was a tiny spot if blood from where a couple of feathers got plucked and I treated that. He is eating and drinking he is fine and one sweet boy.
Anyway we would gladly appreciate any and all help. Please let me know if you need more information and thank you!!!!!!!

To deter pecking, there is a product available here that probably has an equivalent in the US, called Scarper anti-peck spray. It eliminates smells and tastes unpleasant (like the stuff used to stop kids biting their nails). Spray on the affected area of the bird being pecked.

You also need to ensure the hens are getting all the nutrients they need; feather picking is usually driven either by nutrient deficiency (especially protein) or boredom.

The hens mature quicker than the roos so they may bully them for a short while, but the roos will grow into their roles. One will become the dominant and the other the subordinate; in my experience they will sort this out without serious fights or injuries if the loser has space to run away and places to hide. Thereafter they'll happily live together, with an occasional chase to confirm the order and remind the hens who is the dom.

Thank you soooooo much.
Yesterday went to store and got medicine. It turns the skin purple which it helps for the girls not seeing it white and another for the pecking like you mentioned and one or the girls tried cleaning the area and she did not like how it tasted lol
What we are very happy about is that there is no aggression so we think his saddle had debris and someone started to clean and then kept on going. I also got oyster shells just in case. They should be starting to lay in September or so 👍🏼 we are also taking them out to free range and that is helping. hopefully we can finish the other fence so we don't have to babysit their free ranging.
They Are such a joy to have and they are all so friendly...we just want to make sure no one is hurt and that they are happy...cause they are spoiled chickens lol
Thanks again and we really hope the two rooster do get along as they continue to grow/mature. There is definitely one dominant...macho lol and the brahma is very very very low key but he will be the biggest of all ❣
