Have you ever scared a chicken to death? (literally?)

hmm... I know this thread is old but I scare my chickens all the time. one of my hens likes to sit on the couch. So sometimes I run up to her from across the room like i'm going to smash her. All she does is give a little whining cherp when I get close. And with mowing, I got another that follows me around the backyard when I mow the lawn. I almost ran her over once cause she so daring. Even with the weed whacker.

I recommend getting a drake to toughen and protect your hens. Sometimes I see him quaking at the hens and playing with them. I think it might make your hens more social and use to noise

Although not about a dead chicken but I think I killed a squirrel to death this summer. We were having a problem with something eating the veggies out of our garden. After a couple of weeks we noticed a squirrel going through the garden. I placed a humane trap in the garden, and in 20 minutes we caught a squirrel. Because of the damage he had caused I had ended him and displayed him as a warning to his buddies...3 days later we noticed new damage on the same plants as before. I placed the humane trap in the area where I thought the most squirrel traffic was and placed rat traps with peanut butter around the plants. This time it was only 10 minutes before I heard the snap of a trap, upon further investigation I found the sprung trap with no squirrel. Looking around I found a dead squirrel about 3 feet from the sprung trap, he was dead (doorknob dead) but there wasn't a mark, or blood or any sign of injury on him.... I think the trap actually scared him to death.

I think I may have scared an unready egg out of mine. Well. The dog did actually. I found a shell that is very soft. I took a phot but it's hard to see.
