Have You Ever Seen A Black Guinea??

perchie.girl :

bout as close as you can get is Royal Purple. Their plumage is black with very few spots and they have a purple iridescent shine when they are hit by the sun.

This picture probably illustrates the color the best I have ever seen. I had some once.... they didn't get to grow up.... sigh.

I have 1. He is gorgeous. But the other guinea's don't like him. Poor baby.

I haven't read the article from Italy yet, but... that really looks like a pathetically photo-shopped pic of "Teddy Bear" Pied Pearl Grey keets to me. If you mess with the contrast and lightness even as little as I just quickly did, you can see what I mean...

Eh, who knows, maybe they do feather out black as adults... but looks to me like they are just Very Pied Pearl Grey keets by the amount of white on their faces and the widows peaks on their heads compared to the the bundles of TB Pearl Grey keets that I've hatched out this year, lol.

There isn't a black domesticated helmeted Guinea...though I believe they are still working on it. The closest thing are royal purples and violets. All the current colors available are bred by this guy: http://www.guineafarm.com/descriptions.html . There is a wild species of Guinea Fowl though called a Black Guinea, they are fairly ugly, and look like a black turkey with no polka dots. None are kept in captivity so far.
