A hen laid this tiny egg today. It’s about the size of large hard candy, like one of those large spicy fireballs, or maybe a robin egg. Is this egg okay to eat? And is the hen healthy or is there something wrong with her?

I save mine, I have quite a collection. They dry out if left alone, no need to refrigerate. Fairy egg, rooster egg, fart egg, wind egg, are some of the names given to them. Often pullets will lay them as they get started laying, and I have heard old lady hens can as well, as a last hurrah to their reproductive days.

I believe you were the one who inspired me to keep a tiny egg collection. Thanks for this great idea! I've saved some pretty pullet eggs and just recently blew out a cute little green fairy egg (it had a tiny yolk!).

i don't blow them out. I tried once and found it too fragile, it just crumbled! The insides just dry out. Sometimes you can shake them and they rattle a little, lol. But if you do blow them, then you can string them like beads.

Photos, please? 😁
Tomorrow, if I can find this thread again!

@StinkyAcres , love your display! I need to do something cool with mine.
