Have you ever thought of getting rid of them?

My silkies were sweet peas until a predator got in, killed all the chicks and ripped out a couple of top knots, and haven't come around. I have a blue silkie from a BYC member, and a black hen, then a buff pair. They are months from laying, maybe in early spring, since they lay late. Born April. My Cochins were born a year ago. We started with four, lost one in March, one last week. They have always been sweet, true to cochin ways. The standards were from down the road, for eggs, but are 8 weeks old.

They are beautiful birds, cuter every moult too. Charmin is a cutie, I saw her on FB. I did have chicks from them, but they all were killed

We are trying to get up with the ones that bought chicks praying for an extra roo.

I got 6 last May and ended up selling 3 due to their behavior. They were mean to the other hens, and just took away for the pleasure of having them all.It was hard to let go but I did. Now I have 6 new ones thanks to my dd's school hatching eggs, and with them it will be hard to let go just because I know the school kids are watching them grow via a blog.If I get rid of someone's favorite my dd will hear about it.BUT I will do it again though offer the hens/roos to the school families first.

I spend hours each day watching over, feeding, cleaning for the hens and I don't want to do it for ones that I don't like(if they are aggresive). I have a rabbit we got as a baby, but once it grew up it was a mean biter.Love rabbits, but this one REALLY takes away the joy of having a rabbit.

I occasionaly go through this and just downsize. I don't have to pet or touch my birds and don't attmept to unless they make the first oveture. I have a chairs in my barn and usually when I sit down 'somebody' is coming to investigate and will usually jump in my lap for attention.

My roos and I have an understanding, I will not tolerate BAD behavior from them so I feel comfortable not keeping an eye on them.

My laying flock free ranges during the day and after a bad predator attack were flighty for about a week. I just kept them locked up 24/7 for about a week and they settled down to normal.

Your choice is pretty easy. Sell the ones that don't 'cut it' for you and get more to replace them and enjoy the ones you keep. Or if they are good egg layers, accept them for what they are. Chickens are like people, they don't all have pleasant personalities.

I'm just going to keep my two cochins. Going to college next year, it'll be less for family to have to tolerate, and I'll stop expanding the coop.
